Plan Your Fabulous Local Wedding

Soft tones and lace created the romantic theme Sara and Jaden were thinking of when they were planning their wedding day. Stratford Country Club was the perfect backdrop to complete their vision…

Full Names: Sara Sanders and Jaden Sanders

Wedding Date: August 23rd, 2019

Ceremony & Reception Location: Stratford Country Club (  “We choose Stratford Country Club because the interior was beautiful with the wooden beams, chandeliers and bright white walls. We also wanted an outdoor ceremony and they have a beautiful garden and arbour there for you.” – S&J

Colour Palette: “Mainly white with greenery. The boys were in a very light grey and the girls in powder blue so we accented these colours throughout as well.” – S

Theme: “Our theme was romantic. We made our theme come across with the soft color tones we chose. My dress was also very romantic – the skirt was very soft and flowy and the top was delicate with floral lace. I also added in a lot of my personal calligraphy and signage to our day which gave a very romantic feel.” – S

Flowers: “The main florals I chose were penny eucalyptus, seeded eucalyptus, soft white roses, white carnations, and I added a touch of soft blush pink roses and astilbe.” – S

Décor: “I did all of the décor myself as I went to college for interior design. I currently have a wood sign business called White Wood Design Studio, so all of the décor and signage on our day was made by myself and Jaden. The Stratford Country Club was an amazing help for setup of everything, they were so kind and tried to put things together exactly how I envisioned it!” – S

Fav décor element: “Hmm… that’s a hard one. I would have to say besides all the greenery we added to the head table, it would probably have to be our donut board. It was a big hit and I loved that we made it ourselves.” – S

DIY: “A LOT of our wedding décor was DIY. We made all of our signage including the donut board, seating chart on a large mirror, our welcome sign, gifts, and cards sign, etc. My mom also helped out in making some artificial floral swags for our arbour. I DIY’d our wedding invitations. I had this vision for our invitations to be very soft and romantic – I wanted them to be printed on textured paper because I felt that went really well with our theme. I figured I could tackle this on my own, so I designed the invitation and details card on my computer and went to Michaels to find some textured paper. I found this watercolor paper that was perfect and printed all of our invitation sets on my home printer. I then trimmed all of them and bought light grey envelopes to go with them. They turned out just as I had hoped!
Another element that was noteworthy was our seating chart. I had only ever done one seating chart before doing ours and it took a lot of pre-work to measure properly and plan out the layout of it. But once I had the layout down and got to work, it was so much fun to do!” – S

Videographer: “We hired Cody from Royco Creative ( to do a highlight video. He recently sent us the video and it is absolutely amazing!! I am sooo happy I decided to hire him because it is something we will look back on for years to come.” – S

Cake:JK Cakes (

Favours: We got sunrise Apples from Martins Orchards ( in St. Jacobs. This was very sentimental to my side of the family because growing up my grandparents had an apple orchard farm. I chose to use apples as our favours in memory of my grandpa.” – S

Groomsmen and Groom’s attire: RW & Co. and Moores Clothing for Men (

Bridesmaids attire and accessories: Purbelle (

Bride’s dress and accessories: ”Sew Stylish Wedding Works ( in Ingersoll. My accessories were gifted from my MOH and my something borrowed from my mom.” – S

DJ: Doug Russell from Sound Dynamix ( in Woodstock

Hair & make-up:Palm Hair by Britt Zavitz ( in Woodstock, Makeup by Carolyn (Guelph)

Photographer: Amanda Verhoeve Photography ( ”I found Amanda while searching on Instagram. I chose Amanda because of her photography style which was very light and airy. It was exactly what I was looking for and the poses she captures are very natural and in the moment. She was amazing! So friendly and down to earth. She made the day that much more exciting with her energy and was able to capture some amazing memories. My favourite part of our photos would have to be the natural, raw moments of us. She does this one prompt called the “drunk walk” which made us laugh every time and she captured some amazing photos.” – S

Biggest challenge: “The biggest challenge would have to be keeping track of when and what you should be doing leading up to the big day. I found researching how many months out you should be doing a task and keeping an agenda of things to do was very helpful. I am big on writing things down that I want to remember or have to do, so this is how I kept organized.” – S

Fav wedding memory: “One of my bridesmaids told me to take a moment with my new husband at some point in the night, sit back and look at all of your friends and family having the best time celebrating you both as newlyweds. It was one of my favourite moments.” – S

Advice from one couple to another: “My advice to other couples planning their wedding is to remember to have fun during the whole process. It can be very stressful at times but try not to get caught up in that because it can also be a lot of fun. There are so many great events with your wedding party and that was one of my favourite parts leading up to the day.” – S
