Plan Your Fabulous Local Wedding

With dusty purples, light pinks and touches of grey and rose gold, Andrea and Justin had a breathtaking wedding day that was perfectly put together…

Married couple: Andrea Hicks and Justin Erratt

Wedding Date: August 24th, 2019

Ceremony & Reception Location: Caradoc Sands ( “We loved the indoor reception space that could accommodate our large guest list. The space was updated and didn’t need a lot of décor. We were able to have the overhead doors in the banquet hall open to the covered patio, which made a really fun dancefloor area. We also really loved the ceremony space which has a beautiful waterfall in the background. The package rates at Caradoc Sands are inclusive which was a huge plus knowing exactly how much everything was going to cost based on our final numbers.” – A&J

Colour Palette: Dusty purples and light pinks with grey and hints of rose gold

Theme: “We didn’t really have a distinct theme. We more so stuck to having elements like the rose gold touches and antique-looking frames throughout the décor.” – A

Flowers: Grow and Bloom ( “We wanted to use florals that were in season and as locally sourced as possible. The colours were neutral with hints of pinks and purples and beautiful greenery.” – A

Décor: “We did most of the décor ourselves. The venue had the head table backdrop and arch for the ceremony that we were able to rent. Project Carve ( made our table numbers and head table monogram which we then painted ourselves. For our guestbook, we had individual “Message for the lovebirds” cards for our guests to fill out that we later copied and included at the back of our wedding album. The cards were displayed in a birdbath and then were put into a birdcage once they were filled out by our guests.” – A

Fav décor element: “On our guestbook table we had black and white wedding photos of both of our parents and grandparents displayed in an old frame with rose gold wire and mini rose gold clothespins. We made a similar display with a larger frame for our guest seating chart.” – A

DIY: “We made our own wood box centerpieces with the help of our family. The signs for our décor we made using the antique-looking frames we found and painted with chalkboard paint for the background, and a Cricut for the words.” – A

Invitations/stationery: Shutterfly

Cake: “Made by a friend at Strano’s Bakery (” – A

Wedding favours: “We made a donation to the NICU at London Health Sciences Centre and we had a candy bar.” – A

Bride’s dress and accessories: “Bridalane dress from Petrov Bridal ( and both of my rings and Justin’s are from Poags Jewellers (” – A

DJ: Rob with Music Central

Ceremony music: Jamie Bladwin (

Hair & make-up: Make-up – Top Knots and Gloss (, Hair – Janine at Studio 99 (

Photographer: Kelly Taylor – The Bridal Lounge  ( “We were referred to Kelly by friends that had worked with her before. Besides her being extremely talented, what made us choose Kelly was how personable and outgoing she is. She really made us feel comfortable and was so fun to work with! We were really happy with how she was able to capture all of our family photos and some really great candid photos of our special day. We have some beautiful sunset photos which captured the changing colours of the sky that night.” – A

Biggest challenge: “One of our initial challenges was finding a venue that was able to accommodate our large guest list and that also had the look and feel we were wanting. Our solution was to look outside London and that’s when we found Caradoc Sands. Since most of our guests were going to be traveling from London, we arranged a shuttle bus to take guests to and from the venue. The night before our wedding my cousin, a bridesmaid from out of town, arrived and we realized her bridesmaid dress had been ordered in the wrong colour! My mom sacrificed her morning and literally saved the day by going to David’s bridal the day of our wedding, getting a dress in the right colour, and then on top of that getting it altered all before the photographers arrived. I’m not sure what we would have done without her unwavering support in that moment, and throughout the whole wedding planning process.” – A

Fav wedding memory: “Instead of doing a kissing game at our reception, we did one big kiss right after our grand entrance. The louder and longer our guests cheered, the bigger the kiss we gave them. This was such an awesome memory hearing the roaring support from our family and friends, and it was such a fun way to get everyone pumped up for the reception.” – A

Advice from one couple to another: “Book your venue and vendors as soon as possible and find vendors that will help with the set up/take down (e.g. venue, florists etc.). Also, go on a honeymoon right away if you can!” – A
