Bride & Groom: Lauren Maas & Reymel Sunglao
Wedding Date: June 2, 2018
Guest #: 90
Ceremony & Reception Location: Brantview Apples and Cider (www.brantviewapples.com)
Photographer: Fedora Media (www.fedoramedia.com)
Colour Palette: “Our theme for the day was family-oriented, rustic, and simple. We really loved the venue as it was, so we did very minimal décor. Our focus was really on celebrating with our friends and family. We had a barbeque-style dinner and lawn games for the kids to play. This was the second marriage for both of us, and we came into our relationship with kids. Not only was it the two of us joining together, but we were also becoming a foursome, and we really wanted that to come through in the feel of the wedding, especially for our daughter and son.”
Tell us your story!: “Reymel and I met in 2014, and we really hit it off. It may have been our mutual love of mud runs, but we really clicked. We felt comfortable with each other, had many interests in common, and had a lot of aligned goals. We both learned very quickly that we wanted to be partners for the rest of our lives. Fast forward to September 2016, and Reymel proposed to me at Tough Mudder, on my favourite obstacle while I was completely covered in mud, soaking wet and exhausted. It was one of the best days of my life.
One of the most important things to us is our kids. I have a son and he has a daughter. We really enjoy spending time together, and so for us, it was really important to make our wedding day not just about us, but about them too. Reymel and I getting married meant that we were becoming a family “officially”, and we wanted them to feel that they were a big part of the day as well.”

How did you find your photographer?: “I have known Trent from Fedora Media for a long time. He had done family shoots for me in the past, and I loved the style of those photographs and the ones in his wedding portfolio. I knew the quality of the photos I would be getting and that I would be working with someone who was laid back and just really willing to make the day better.
My favourite part of the photos is the memories that they bring when I took at them. I feel that Fedora Media did such a great job of capturing what the day was about for us- family, friends, and having fun while we promised each other that we’d stand beside each other forever.”
Biggest Challenge: “The biggest challenge for me was that we did a lot of the aspects of our wedding as DIY. The flower, the invitations, and the centerpieces. Thankfully, my bridesmaids were a huge help and totally on board to help me with whatever I needed.”
Best Memory: “I have two best memories from our wedding. The first is saying our own written vows, not only to each other but to our children as well. It was a wonderful moment to promise my bonus daughter that I will be there for her always, just as I will with my husband.
My second favourite memory is having our first dance together, and then having a dance with my son. I really loved when we invited our guests to the dance floor and it was just filled with people! we had such a great time!”
Any advice for couples planning their wedding?: “It’s your day! Do what makes you happy because the day is for you to celebrate each other and the love you have for each other. Oh, and If you need help, ask for it. It will help keep (some) of the stress away!”
