Theme: “Our theme was simple, rustic elegance.” – A

Flowers: “We ordered all of our flowers from Costco, my step-Mom arranged the centerpieces. Some of the flowers were ivory roses, baby’s breath and eucalyptus included in the centerpieces. The eucalyptus was my favourite, and all the flowers lasted sooo long after the wedding!” – A

Décor: “I did everything myself. I purchased some things from an online wedding swap and sell Facebook site (like candles, votive holders, hurricane vases, wood slabs), and made my own head table décor by buying a pink chiffon fabric and pinning it. I purchased a gorgeous gold table runner from a craft store for the tabletop.” – A

Fav décor element: “For sure the wooden slabs for the centerpieces!” – A

DIY: “Almost everything was DIY!” – A&D

Invitations/stationery: Vistaprint

Wedding favours: “My mother in law and I made our favours! We took a pretzel, a melted Rolo, and smooshed a pecan on top. A handful of those, in a clear baggie with a small gold ribbon, with a sticker that says “handmade with love” – A

Hair & make-up: “Our hair was done by Luminous Spa Waterloo ( by Jess. She came to the hotel which was amazing! Makeup was done by Lauren V kirk (” – A

Photography: Sandra Monaco Photography (  “A previous coworker had recommended Sandra and we had her take our Mommy and me photos of my daughter when she was 2 (she’s now 8!). Sandra has STUNNING photos in her portfolio and specializes in weddings. I love her style. Absolutely amazing. She was so fun, which is evident in all my pictures where I have a massive smile from laughing. She was able to get both of my children smiling and laughing, and was so silly with them. The candid photos, like when I couldn’t walk in my heels anymore and there’s a picture of me walking in bare feet…or when I got lipstick on my dad’s face from kissing him and we are both laughing as he wiped it away.” – A

Biggest challenge: “The biggest challenge was doing everything myself. I did a little bit every day but always felt like I was forgetting something. I used a checklist which helped me stay on track, but felt overwhelmed a lot of the time, because I was working 2 jobs, have 2 kids, and life was very busy.” – A

Fav memory: “The best memories of my wedding were my husband exchanging vows with my daughter, his new stepdaughter…and the speeches from my 2 sisters!! Also, my uncle played acoustic guitar and my sister sang me down the aisle. The song was by Adam Sandler ” Wanna grow old with you”. Then they played and sang the song “I choose you” by Ryann darling while we signed our marriage certificate. It was absolutely beautiful! My Dad also played a song on his guitar during his speech. That was so special and I’m so grateful I had a videographer to capture these special moments!” – A

Advice from one couple to another: “Hire someone to help with the planning, or at the very least, a day-of coordinator! If I could do it again, I most definitely would. Also, everyone hears it, but the day goes by sooo fast. Not everything will go according to plan, but just roll with it, and enjoy the day!” – A
